A spread of food on a Southern table can be
quite a history lesson. Southern cuisine's origins can be credited
to the varied cultures of Native Americans, settlers and slaves.
Influenced by these varied cultures, rich farmland, wealth and
poverty, Southern cuisine has several styles; Cajun, Low-country,
Soul, Country, and Native. The commonalities are flavor, and while
Southern cuisine is often simple, it is also artful.
Georgia Brown is well-traveled. She's
shared recipes and good times with the great chefs of Richmond,
Charleston, and Atlanta. She's laughed and broken bread with family
and friends in places like Lizard Lick and Rockfish where they'd
share recipes for casseroles, fried chicken and desserts. She's
eaten barbecue in a thousand different places, prepared a thousand
different ways and every one of them were the best in the world to
hear somebody tell it.
Georgia Brown's Bar & Grill is a
tribute to the great chefs of the South, to friends and family in
the small country villages of Sampson County and big cities like
Charlotte. Georgia Brown brings diversity to the table. That's how
Southern cuisine started, and its evolution continues at Georgia
Brown's Bar & Grill.
We know there's a great Southern chef in
your family. Perhaps you've a great recipe or tip you'd like to
share. If so, just ask for a recipe card. Whether it's a side dish,
dessert or main course, if we choose your recipe we'll recognize
you on that month's menu, we'll put your name on a plate and we'll
be honored to break bread with you and your family.
